Alan J. Vogenberg
Pharmacist, Pharmacy Owner, Educator
On January 29, 2024, Alan J. Vogenberg of Langhorne, PA passed peacefully after a long illness. Alan is survived by his high school sweetheart, companion, and wonderful wife of 70+ years, Audrey (Kirschenbaum) of Glens Falls, NY. He was the brother of Eva Phelps, Texas and loving father of F. Randy (Jane) Vogenberg of Greenville, SC; Carol (late Ted) Protack of Newark, DE; and Jill (Stefan) Richter of Pipersville, PA. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Jacob Vogenberg, Riverside, CA; Sydney and Cole Richter, Pipersville, PA.
Mr. Vogenberg was predeceased by his father Frank R., Jr. and Sarah (Salus) Vogenberg and raised in the Swampoodle and Logan sections of Philadelphia, PA. He graduated with the 189th class of Central High School followed by serving in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1949-50. Alan then graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Sciences (PCPS) beginning his pharmacist career in Bristol, PA. Subsequently he became the owner of Alan’s Pharmacy in Bristol then Windsor Pharmacy in Levittown.
As a volunteer at Central High School, Alan helped to establish a new chapter of his Alfa Beta Gamma there and Rho Pi Phi fraternity at PCPS. After college graduation, he was active in his Lower Bucks County community and pharmacy profession. Most notable was the PA state BOWL OF HYGEIA and the national NCPA DRUG ABUSE EDUCATION AND PREVENTION AWARD recipient.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the charity of your choosing.
Graveside burial will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
Memorial Service will take place Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Levine’s Funeral Home, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, PA 19053.
