Albert Tonik

Albert Burton Tonik, age 92, February 22, 2018, of Ambler, PA; beloved partner of S. Gail Sussman and former husband of the late Louise Tonik (nee Tillery); loving father and inspiration of Susan Tonik and David Tonik; devoted grandfather to Lisa Moran, Paul Bedesem, Shanna Bedesem and Victoria Tonik; brother to Edith Borden (Tonik) and the late Ethel Gillman (Tonik); and also loved by many other relatives and friends. Services and interment Sunday, February 25 at Montefiore Cemetery.

Albert was born July 1, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to Samuel Myer Tonik and Sadie Tonik (nee Fox). After returning from service during WWII, he attended college to receive a B.S. in Physics. He was hired by the new firm of Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation to help build the next generation computer, UNIVAC 1. Upon retirement, he became a teacher of computer engineering at Drexel University to share his passion with the next generation. His great hobbies were pulp magazine stories and artists and the sport of bowling.
