ROSIN
ALFRED "AL", O.D., 86, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his home in Garnet Valley. Al, a Navy veteran of WWII, was recommended as the first student in the new Eddy radar program in 1944 and became responsible for Naval aircraft radar. Upon his honorable discharge, Al attended Columbia University where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. He was in private practice for over 40 years in Hartford and West Hartford, CT. He was a dedicated family man, coaching his boys in school and tennis; he was especially proud of his sons' academic and career achievements. In 1981 he received an award from the town of West Hartford for coaching youth tennis. Al is survived by his devoted wife Berte (nee Hartmann) and sons Carl (Kate) and Roy (Rachel), his loving grandchildren Cassandra, Elena, Douglas, Andrew and Samantha. Graveside Funeral Services are private. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Fdn. www.cchfoundation.net or a charity of the donor's choice.
