Andrew Walker

Andrew Rodman Walker, 64, of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026 in his home from renal disease. He was born in April 1961 in Tacoma, Washington, but lived most of his life in the Philadelphia area. Andy earned a BA in Art History from LaSalle University, a MA in Elementary Education from Arcadia University and completed his MFA from the University of the Arts. He was a kidney transplant recipient as a young teenager. His life was devoted to creating art and teaching children. His artwork focused on themes of illness and destruction, the subsequent recovery and transformation of human beings and the environment, and the promotion of organ donation awareness. Andy spent several years creating public art; his most famous is a sculpture for the Kimmel Center’s world-class organ, which celebrated both the monetary donors and actual organ donation. He spent over 30 years as a teacher in several Philadelphia area schools and volunteered in the Gift of Life Donor Program and the Hearing Loss Association of America. Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel R. Walker and his parents, Elaine L. (Rodman) Walker and Herbert I. Walker. He is survived by his sister Jody R. Walker, his sister-in-law Doreen A. Walker, his nephew Jack W. Adams, his niece Maeve E. Walker, and his loving partner of 6 years, Cynthia S. Eby, whom he met at a conference for hearing loss advocacy. Andy will also be remembered for his love of comedy and humor. He was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams.

A memorial service is being planned for the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Philadelphia Museum of Art 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy Philadelphia Pa 19130 or to the National Kidney Foundation 30 E. 33rd St #8 New York, NY 10016.
