Annabelle Fishman, 98, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 6, 1927, in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, Annabelle was the cherished daughter of Rose and Jacob Blank, Jewish immigrants to the United States from what was then the Russian Empire. Her life was defined by quiet strength, deep generosity, and an effortless grace that drew in and inspired everyone who knew her.
She was the beloved wife of Bernard (z”l), past president of Har Zion Temple, and a devoted mother to Susan Kohen (David), Mark Fishman (Jill), and Jane Fishman Grinberg (z”l) (Efraim). Known affectionately as “Nanabelle” to her eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, she brought warmth, wisdom, and elegance to every family gathering. Her presence was the heart of the family — the quiet force that wove together generations and held the entire family close.
A passionate advocate and visionary, Annabelle dedicated much of her life to community and philanthropy. She was a founding member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Women of Vision Division, where she also served as campaign chair and women’s division chair. Her leadership, creativity, and commitment helped shape generations of giving and activism. She was also a devoted member of Hadassah and played a central role in countless programs at Har Zion Temple and throughout the Philadelphia Jewish community.
Annabelle’s elegance wasn’t just in her style — though she was always impeccably put together — but in the way she lived. She did things the right way: with thoughtfulness, humility, dependability, and kindness. Her character and values shone through in the wide and diverse circle of people, from all walks of life, who were proud to call her a close friend. She set an example for her children, grandchildren, and community, and leaves behind a legacy of purpose, dignity, and love.
A funeral service was held on July 20, 2025, at Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley, where Annabelle gave so much of herself over the years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Women of Vision Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia — an organization that reflects her values and her lifelong dedication to empowering others.
