Anne May Tickner (nee Bloch)
After a brief illness and short time in hospice Anne (Dolly) Tickner (91) died peacefully in her sleep January 24, 2022. She was born July 24, 1930 in Philadelphia, the daughter of Samuel and Sylvia (Schwartz) Bloch and she was sister to Jean Richter (Charles (z'l)).
Anne was a consummate bargain hunter and world traveler. She was a woman of strong will and strength that served her husband's efforts to open 3 pharmacies in his lifetime including the last and most successful Budget Drug of Feasterville. At the same time, she was a valued staff for the Philadelphia school system and mother to 2 boys Leonard (zl) and Michael. Dolly is survived by Michael (Betty) 2 grandaughters Zara and Eliora. She retired from the school system sometime in the 1980's. When that chapter of her life closed, she enjoyed dancing for years until she had her 2 knee replacements. She also found pleasure in going on cruises, and traveling to Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and Australia. Later in life when traveling became more difficult she enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City until COVID changed everything. Dolly was a passionate Democrat and felt strongly through her last conscious moments that over the last several years the trust of the nation had been violated and those responsible should be held accountable.
Dolly was a strong woman, adamant about her independence even through all of her health issues and lived in her apartment and drove short distances to see nearby doctors and walk in the mall and buy groceries. She was admired for her tenacity by the tellers at the bank, her doctors and the people who saw her pushing her little shopping cart to get where she needed to go.
Dolly is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jules Tickner and her son Leonard.
