ARTHUR J. BOWERS

ARTHUR J. BOWERS

Arthur J Bowers, 82, of Morrisville, would often read the obituaries and recite this quote from George Burns, "I get up every morning and read the obituary column. If my name's not there, I eat breakfast." Unfortunately, Art, who also would be sure to complete the Sudoku (once even complaining to the paper that it was too easy earlier in the week), is not having breakfast today because he passed away on July 10, 2023, in his home surrounded by family.

Born June 13, 1941, in the Bronx, NY, to Grover and Celia Bowers, "Artie" put himself through school at NYU, was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, and received his MBA at Temple University. He also served in the Army, with an honorable discharge in April 1966.

Art went on to have a successful career with banks Manufacturers Hanover Trust Corp and U.S. Trust (now Bank of America) in NYC, commuting daily from his home in PA, then with Broadridge Financial Services, outside Philadelphia, before retiring; however, he felt his greatest accomplishment was his family, who he always put first. Art attended and participated in all three of his children's activities and events, especially marching band, where he was a chaperone on Pennsbury H.S. Marching Band's trip to China and Japan in 1988. He also put each child through college.

Art enjoyed: watching musicals, and was an avid watcher of the game show Jeopardy (where he always tried to guess the Final Jeopardy from the topic, before the question was given); playing card games like Hearts, Cribbage, Pinochle and board games like Trivial Pursuit; going to Disney World with his family, and caring for the family dogs, including stray cats in the backyard that adopted him.

Artie is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 57 years, Diana Bowers (who he adored); his children Alicia Tamargo and her husband Rafael Tamargo; Kevin Bowers; David Bowers and his wife Valerie Baker; his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Gregory Tamargo; nieces and nephews, Richard Bowers (Kim Bowers); Christopher Bowers; Daniel Bowers; many great-nephews and great-nieces AND great-great nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends (also considered family). He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Bowers, a Marine Veteran of WWII, and Melvin Bowers, with whom he shared his love of Mel Brooks movies, which they would often quote.

Relatives and friends are invited to services Friday, July 14, 2023, 10:00AM at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, PA.
