Barbara "Bobbie" Cohen Kroungold

Barbara (Bobbie) Cohen Kroungold (nee Fleisher) of Dresher, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after a short but stoic battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobbie was the beloved mother of Jill Schwartz (Ariel) and Gail Cohen (Raf Lefkovic), loving grandmother of Adena Schwartz Hallinger (John) and Abby Schwartz, and adored “GG Bobbie” to her great-granddaughter, Talia Hallinger. Bobbie is also survived by her sister (and best friend), Selma Gekoski (Norman z’l). She was loved by her many nieces and nephews and her sisters-in-law (Janet First and Peggy Cohen) and brothers-in-law (Bill First and Joel Cohen).

Born and raised in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia, Bobbie was the second daughter of Abraham and Ida Fleisher. After working as a legal secretary, Bobbie married Paul J. Cohen, and they raised their two daughters in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia and later Huntingdon Valley, PA. Bobbie and Paul had a wonderful life filled with family and friends, a strong affiliation with Congregation Adath Jeshurun, and a love of traveling throughout the U.S., Europe, and Israel. Following Paul’s untimely passing in 1980, Bobble moved to Lauderhill, Florida, to help care for her parents. She later moved back to the Philly area to be closer to her family, especially her two granddaughters. Watching them grow up was the joy of her life.

Bobbie later met and fell in love with Bart Kroungold, who would become her second husband of 20 years. She and Bart married in 1995 and lived in Center City Philadelphia and, later, Scottsdale, AZ, until Bart’s passing in 2016. Bobbie returned to the Philly area two years later and had been living in Dresher ever since, enjoying time with her extended family. She was a member of Newtown Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW).

The funeral will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, 10:00 am at Joseph Levine & Sons, 1002 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422, with interment following at Shalom Memorial Park, 3573 Pine Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Services will be webcasted at www.levinefuneral.com/blue-bell-webcam.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Jill and Ariel Schwartz following the burial until sundown; Saturday evening, October 19th, with a Shiva Minyan at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, October 20th from 1-4 p.m. and Shiva Minyan at 7 p.m.
