Barbara Friedman (nee Cohen), November 7, 2025 of Jenkintown, PA. Mother of Andrea Friedman (Peg Conway) and Aaron Friedman (Lisa); former mother-in-law of Beth Pearson (Lane); grandmother of Jordan Friedman (Eden Markel); sister of Renee Feduniue (the late Joseph) and Sandra Cohen; sister-in-law of the late Stanley Friedman (the late Charlotte); aunt of Pamela Feduniue (Barbara Hawkins), Phyllys Christy (Michael) and Jeffrey Friedman (Jenny); great-aunt of David Feduniue (Hope Daniel), Sarah Christy (Brian Gowen), Steve Christy, Andrew Friedman and Lauren Friedman; former wife of Jay Friedman (Sharon Green); and former guardian of many cats, both resident and feral.
Barbara was fiercely independent, super smart, strong-willed, and funny as hell. She loved, worried and argued with equal intensity. Barbara trained as a medical laboratory technician out of high school. After raising her children, she earned her degree as an adult at Penn State University, taking night classes while working full-time. She ran laboratories focused on food safety, adhesives and polymers, and innovative materials and technologies. Barbara was generous, supporting her family in hard times, and contributing to political and charitable causes throughout her life. Beauty mattered to her, and she had an exquisite sense of color and design. She loved art, gardens, music, travel and good food. She always had fresh flowers in the living room. Barbara’s family wishes to acknowledge Dr. James Mahoney and Dr. Joseph Hassey, as well as the caregivers from Redeemer Hospice, Visiting Angels, and Rydal Park, who cared for Barbara with skill, compassion, humor and dignity. These professionals made it possible for Barbara to remain in her home through the end of her life, and to die there peacefully, accompanied by family, as she wished.
Family, Friends, and Caregivers are invited to services Monday, November 17, 2025, 11:00AM at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, PA.
