Barry P. Jacobs

Barry P. Jacobs, 80, of Broomall, Pa., died on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Carol (née Solomon) and the late Donna (née Levin), father of Heidi and Brad (Debbie), grandfather of Sienna, Bryce and Mackenzie, and brother of Karen Neiderman (Brett) and the late Harvey (Norma). He was the son of the late Leonard and the late Frances (Friedman) Jacobs.

A well-respected pharmacist and owner of the Elwyn Pharmacy and Elwyn Long-Term Care Pharmacy in Media, Pa., for more than 40 years, Barry was also the interim director of the Philadelphia Association of Retail Druggists and the director of professional services at the Keystone Pharmacy Purchasing Alliance. He also formerly owned East Goshen Pharmacy in West Chester, Pa., and Goldhaber’s Pharmacy in Philadelphia. 

A B.A. graduate of Philadelphia’s Central High School, Barry received his B.S. degree in pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy. In addition, he was a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was also a past vice president of Temple Sholom in Broomall, Pa. 

Barry was named the Delaware County Pharmacist of the Year by the Delaware County Pharmaceutical Association and the Middletown Township Businessperson of the Year by the Middletown Professional Association. He also received the Bowl of Hygeia Award from Wyeth Laboratories.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, February 1, at 12 p.m. at Temple Sholom, 55 N. Church Lane, Broomall, Pa. (The family requests that face masks be worn). Interment to follow at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, Frazer, PA. Shiva will be observed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Jacobs residence.
