ROSENSTOCK BERYL LEVITSKY On February 28, 2021, Loving and beloved wife, mother of two, and grandmother of three, passed away on her 40th 37th birthday. Beryl was born in Philadelphia, PA, on February 28, 1945, the second of three daughters of Pauline (Leavitt) and Joseph Levitsky. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967 with a degree in English literature, and later attended graduate school at Temple University where she studied communications. Her career was spent in multiple non-profit cultural institutions across Philadelphia. Beryl married Jeffrey Rosenstock on June 28, 1970; in their 50 year marriage they raised two daughters, Susannah and Julia, and traveled the world. Beryl was a maven of many things: of shoes and fashion, of travel and the Italian language, of people of all kinds, of cocktails and joy. Of words and wordplay, and of not going on Jeopardy for fear she could win a Barkcalounger. Of cooking everything, and a loathing for salad dressing from a bottle. Of books of all kinds, as long as they were "not trash." Of laughter, laughter that could last for days with no end in sight. Beryl was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Joe, and her dogs, Charlotte and Violet. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey, her daughters Susannah (Philipp Angermeyer) and Julia (Michael Rund), her grandchildren Zoe, Zach, and Veda, and her sisters, Barbara (Jerry) Gotlieb and Sandi (Malcolm) Cohen. She is also survived by at least 250 pairs of shoes, each more fabulous than the last. Service and interment are private. The family plans to hold a celebratory memorial in the coming months, once pandemic restrictions allow.
