Rabbi Bradley N. Bleefeld

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rabbi Bradley N. Bleefeld, DD, on February 20, 2025. He slipped away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Born in Manhattan on November 12, 1948, to the late Herman and Dorothy Bleefeld z”l, and growing up in the Bronx, Bradley was a true son of New York. After graduating from Dewitt Clinton High School, he attended the University of Cincinnati before attending rabbinical school.Ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1975, Rabbi Bleefeld served pulpits in Columbus, Baltimore, Erie, Perth, and Philadelphia. He received his honorary Doctorate of Divinity in the year 2000 after 25 years of service in the rabbinate. He went on to serve the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the appointment of the Honorable Tom Ridge as the Governor’s Advisor to Academic and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. For the past 23 years, he served as rabbi of his beloved Temple Beth Hillel-Beth Abraham of Carmel, New Jersey. 

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Merrie, his three children and their spouses, Marshall and Amy, Herschel and Wendi, Rachel and Andy, and his four grandchildren Benjamin, Max, Hudson, and Samuel, all of whom he adored and adored him. He is also survived by his brother, Martin Bleefeld.

Relatives and friends are invited to services Sunday February 23, 12:30pm at Joseph Levine & Sons 1002 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell. Interment will follow at Haym Salomon Memorial Park. 

The family will return to the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Marshall Bleefeld Sunday and Monday evenings only from 6PM to 8PM. The family kindly requests that contributions in his memory be made to Temple Beth Hillel-Beth Abraham P.O. Box 2205 Vineland, NJ 08362, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org), or the Pacific Palisades Fire Assistance Fund of Kehillat Israel (www.ourki.org/palifire).
