Charles Berkowitz

Charles, age 94 of Haverford, PA, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023. Devoted son of the late Jacob and Goldye (nee Margolis) Berkowitz, beloved husband of Adele (nee Greenberg) Berkowitz; loving father of Robert Berkowitz and Michael (Helene) Berkowitz; cherished grandfather of Julie, Melissa and Scott; dear brother of the late Zelda Cutler. Charles grew up in West Philadelphia, joined the Naval Reserve, graduated from Temple University and went to work at his father’s typesetting business, which he eventually took over.  After a long career working in typesetting, Charles ended up spending 16 years with Vanguard, retiring at age 79.  Charles loved golf, jazz, theatre, the Phillies and Eagles and old movies… but he mostly loved his family.  Family and friends are invited to Services Thursday, 12:00 PM, at Joseph Levine & Sons, 1002 W. Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA. Interment at Montefiore Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the residence of Helene and Michael Berkowitz on Thursday starting at approximately 3:00PM with minyan at 7:00. Friday shiva begins at 2:00PM. There is no minyan on Friday but visitors are welcome in the evening. Saturday shiva begins at 6:30PM with minyan at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
