Charles Burton of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Charlie, as he was known to family and friends, was 79. He had been receiving end-of-life care at the Abramson Center for Jewish Life in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
Charlie had a long, successful career in public relations and communications, holding senior positions with McGraw-Hill, Carl Byoir, Honeywell and Unisys, as well as managing his own consulting firm, Burton Associates. He graduated from Boston University with degrees in Public Relations and Communications. Charlie will be remembered for his extraordinary intellect and wit, a wonderful sense of humor, a warm and outgoing nature and for his heartfelt concern and commitment to all those he knew and loved. Charlie had been retired for a number of years and was living a happy and fulfilling life of world travel, along with well-deserved relaxation with Marcy at their beloved vacation home in Cape May, New Jersey.
Charlie was pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Ruby Bernstein, and by his adopted daughter, Susan. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcy Berlin-Burton; son, Steven Bernstein; daughter, Caroline Morrison; daughter, Katharine (Kate) Burton, DDS and son, Peter; stepson, Bruce Martilik; sister, Adraenne and her husband, Walter Bowe; grandchildren, Zoe and Nicholas and Max Martilik; first cousins, Irwin Bernstein and his wife, Linda, Lana Umflat, Ted Bernstein, Rita Williamson; and two adored cats, Samantha and J-J.
