Hernes, Clara Babe
(nee Garfield); December 24,2024, of Jenkintown, PA, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, PA. Beloved wife of the late Seymour; devoted mother of Sharon Silverman (Alan) and Helene Silverman (Andrew); cherished grandmother of Jason Silverman (Michelle Kim), Steven Silverman (Sun Park) and Nadine Silverman (Keith Spradlin).

Babe grew up in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia with her parents, Dr. Herman and Sophie (Gottesfeld) Garfield, and her grandmother, Sarah Garfield.  She was a proud graduate of Olney High School.  Babe earned her degree in Elementary Education and Speech Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, later getting a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Temple University.  She worked for many years at CORA Services, first as a speech instructor and later as a department supervisor.  Always engaged with her community, Babe was an active volunteer at Because We Care and at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at the Plaza Apartments Social Room, 1250 Greenwood Ave., Jenkintown, PA.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, 12:30 p.m. at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA. The service will also be streamed here: https://www.kenesethisrael.org/stream-services-online/.  Contributions in Babe's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
