We are sad to announce the passing of Daniel Bartram Litwin of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. He died at age 83 on June 21, 2023. Dan passed away surrounded by his loving family, his wife Linda and sons Kenneth (Jennifer) and Mark (Melissa) and his grandchild Susannah.
He expressed gratitude for a life well lived. He thanked his parents, Maryann and Israel, for their devoted care. He cited an Upper Darby High School teacher who appointed him editor of the school paper, a first opportunity for leadership. He was thankful for a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania so he could achieve a first rate education without burdening his parents. Likewise, he was grateful to obtain a J.D. at Harvard Law School. He gave loving thanks to Linda for their 59-year partnership and marriage which began with a year of study in London and included many adventures, always returning to the beautiful home they built together, where they raised their sons, and which served as a gracious gathering place for a large community of supportive friends. He noted professional opportunities including time as a partner at the law firm Wolf Block and as co-owner of a real estate asset management firm. He described feeling lucky to give his sons a strong start in life and expressed pride in all they had achieved. He was grateful for the opportunity to serve his community as a Boy Scout leader, and proud of the achievements of his scouts of all backgrounds, and of the love of nature and adventure he instilled. He spoke lovingly of his daughters-in-law who he treated like his own children. He recalled many happy hours reading and gardening with his granddaughter and expressed glad hopes for her future.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family members present. Shiva will be held at the late residence in Newtown Square from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on June 26 and 27, 2023.
