David Cohen

Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Gerstein). Devoted father of Dana (David) Plon and Stephanie (Benjamin) Dubin. Cherished brother of Anne Teplitsky. Proud grandfather of Alexa, Cara, Avery and Rachel. David graduated from Germantown High School in 1960. He continued his education at University of Louisville where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was the first in his family to graduate college and was very proud of his alma mater which was evident by his ever present Louisville hat and t-shirt.  David was a school teacher for over 30 years in the Philadelphia School District.  He was a camper, staffer and eventually an owner and operator of Mr. Basketball Camp in the Poconos where he spent his summers for over 25 years.  He was an avid sports fan and continued to be an exceptional athlete and teammate up until his sudden illness.  David was hardworking, gentle, kind, unbelievably patient and the first person to help out a friend in need. He was an exceptionally devoted husband, father and grandfather, who would do anything for his family. Relatives and friends are invited to Chapel Services Tuesday September 27, 12:00 noon at Joseph Levine & Sons (1002 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, Pa.). Interment to follow at Montefiore Cemetery. The family will return to the residence of Mr. & Mrs. David Plon and request that contributions in his memory be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
