Deborah Blau Leibowitz of Devon, PA; A talented artist, teacher, scholar, and the brilliant sun around whom her cherished family orbited, died peacefully on the evening of October 6, 2024, at the age of 74, from cancer. Born in Philadelphia on July 15, 1950, to the late Miranda Nayowith Blau and Norman Kenneth Blau, Debby is survived by her husband Marc; sister Shelly Blau; children Sam (Keet) and Ben (Jenny); grandchildren Maya, Brant, and Iris; Uncle Martin Nayowith, so many friends whom Debby loved like siblings, and numerous treasured cousins, many of whom she discovered recently through her deep dives into genealogical research. Debby had many other passions including art, literature, music, politics, gardening, and animal welfare. As a teacher, she made a positive and lasting impact on hundreds of school students in the city of Philadelphia. She also nurtured several beloved rescue cats and dogs (and one very lucky rabbit) throughout her lifetime. Her number one devotion was to her husband, kids, and grandkids, of whom she was immensely proud, to whom she gave tirelessly of herself, and who now miss her dearly.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of this amazing woman at 11:00am on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moores Road, Malvern, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Debby’s memory to your local animal shelter.
