DOROTHY HOLENDER RODNEY, a longtime resident of Spring-field (Delco) PA, passed away on October 15, 2016, at the age of 93, due to complications from pneumonia. She was born in Buffalo NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Weil) Holender. She has resided since 1998 at Riddle Village, Media PA.
She was the wife of the late Henry E. Rodney and is survived by her children, John (Laraine) Rodney of Sewickley PA and Marcia (Bill Schwarz) Rodney of Louisville CO. She is also survived by her grand-children, Grace (Zachary) Jones of Dayton OH, and Benjamin (Laura Arnold) Rodney of New York City. Her brother, H. William Holender, predeceased her. Dorothy volunteered for over 30 years for the United Way of Greater Philadelphia, starting as a donation collector and ending as a member of the Central Allocations Committee and the Board of Trustees. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters for over 50 years and served as President of the Springfield League. She was a member of Temple Sholom, Broomall PA, for 60 years and enjoyed bridge, traveling and golf. Dorothy also taught English as a second language for over 10 years. She also sold advertising for the Springfield Press and other Press Newspapers for ten years. She always said she learned from and enjoyed all these activities.
Interment is private. A Memorial Service will be held at Riddle Village at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to LWV Delco Education Fund, PO Box 131, Wallingford PA 19086, or to the United Way of Greater Philadelphia, 1709 Ben Franklin Parkway, Phila. PA 19103.
