On Wednesday June 28th, Dr. James (Jim) E. Kippen, passed away at age 75. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Stephanie Ravett, and a cherished father of two sons; Clay and Hunter Kippen. He was recently blessed with his first grandchild, Romi Kippen, whom he adored. Compassionate and quick-witted, Jim made a name for himself as a dentist, joining Drs. Morty and Barry Melman in the early 80’s. Despite being retired for more than 15 years, Jim’s former patients would often ask his wife about his well-being. Photos of Jim are still on the walls of the practice which Stephanie now runs, serving as a reminder of all the lives he’s touched.
Jim was also a prolific artist. He was a member of the cooperative Muse Gallery in Old City. He’s had four incredibly diverse shows at Muse since 2017, and many of his works now grace the walls of homes across the region. Jim was best known for his mischievous sense of humor that never failed to amuse his family and friends. He was truly larger than life.
Jim loved all things sports. He swam, biked, golfed, and enjoyed skiing most of all. Overshadowing his own athletic pursuits, however, was his diehard fandom of the Cleveland Browns. He could recite every play of games back to the time he was ten years old. He never let the 1986 AFC championship game go.
