PRESSMAN
EDMUND N. PRESSMAN, MD, Dec. 22, 2012, of Haverford, PA Husband of Lois (nee Fisher). Father of Jon (Kristen) Pressman and Alison (Kort) Schickfus. Grandfather of Fisher, Eleanor, Kate and Emily. Dr. Pressman was an anesthesiologist, accomplished rower and rowing coach. He was 77.
Dr. Pressman earned his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1956 and an MD from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1960. He completed his internship and residency in Anesthesiology at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Pressman's faculty appoint-ments include Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University and Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Medical College of Pennsylvania. For 27 years, he was Chief of Anesthesiology at Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville, PA. At Phoenixville Hospital, he served as President of the Medical staff from 1979-1981.
As a college oarsman, Dr. Pressman was a member of the University of Pennsylvania lightweight eight crew team that competed in the finals of the 1955 Royal Henley Regatta. After college, he continued his rowing career and was a multiple National Champion who competed for over 20 years. In more recent years, he was a multiple National Champion in Masters' rowing. Dr. Pressman was a life member of the Undine Barge Club in Philadelphia and served as President of the Club from 1992 to 1997. He was a beloved rowing coach at The Haverford School from 1997-2008.
Graveside services will be held Friday January 4, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the Mt. Sharon Cemetery, Springfield Road at West Avenue, Springfield, PA. The family will return to the home of Jon and Kristen Pressman.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday January 12 at 1 P.M. at The Baldwin School, 701 W. Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of Haverford School Rowing, 478 South Sweet Gum Lane, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
