Elaine Braitman (née Lewis), 94, on October 31, 2026.
Born in Philadelphia in 1932, the youngest of four children of Leon and Gertrude Lewis, Elaine lost her mother at a young age and was raised with the help of the family's beloved housekeeper, Mary "Mamie" Kelly, whom she honored all her life. A graduate of Olney High School, she worked for many years as a medical technician for Dr. Albert Adlin in West Oak Lane.
She and her husband, Howard, raised their two sons in Plymouth Meeting, where the family belonged to Congregation Or Ami, and later moved to Rittenhouse Square, where they entertained often and traveled widely. Elaine was an avid reader, took mosaic classes for years with her daughter-in-law Donna, and was known throughout her neighborhood for her warm "hello." She wished to be remembered as a baker, and her biscotti were legendary. Grateful, sweet, and loving, she took her greatest joy in her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Howard (2016); her son Richard (2012); and her siblings Frank, Edith, and Harriet. Survived by her son Lawrence (Pearl); daughters-in-law Donna and Abbe; grandchildren David, Shayna (Avi), Amanda, and Jena; her dog, Princess; and her devoted caregiver, Rosie Flores. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to services Friday, November 6, at 12:00 noon, at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 Street Rd, Trevose PA, followed by interment at Shalom Memorial Park, Trevose Contributions in Elaine's memory may be made to Alzheimer’s & Dementia Research (https://www.alz.org/research).
