Elizabeth “Betsy” Stein Rubenstone 72, of Glenside, PA, passed away on April 18, 2024 after a courageous eleven plus year battle against stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. Betsy is survived by her husband Ed, who she married 49 years ago, her children Michael (Shannon) and Caren, and her gorgeous granddaughters Frankie June and Goldie Wren.
Betsy was a very special woman: kind, thoughtful, and incredibly beautiful, treasured and admired by all who knew her. She graduated from Cheltenham HS and Fisher College, and received her aesthetician’s degree. Betsy led the clinical skin care practice at the Center For Human Appearance in the Plastic Surgery Department of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for 17 years. Betsy established a highly successful private practice and was widely recognized as the most admired clinical aesthetician in the area. She was honored as "Best" of Philadelphia" on multiple occasions. In recognition of her groundbreaking talents, she was elected national President of the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists in 1998.
Betsy was also an avid and outstanding tennis player, winning the Women’s Clay Court Championship at Germantown Cricket Club at the age of 38. And with all that, she was an extraordinary wife and mother, supporting her husband throughout his legal career and never missing her children’s games or performances. Despite her grim diagnosis, Betsy miraculously lived for more than a decade. During that time, she traveled the world, saw her son married, her daughter fall in love, and welcomed her two beautiful granddaughters into this world.
Betsy is survived by her sister Ellen Dressler and was predeceased by her parents Adele and Leonard Stein, her brother Leonard (Butch) Stein, and her sister Emily Stein-O’Brien.
