Elizabeth "Betty" Keiser

Elizabeth "Betty" H. Keiser (nee Copelin) of Philadelphia, PA passed on March 9, 2026, just shy of her 101st birthday.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late Willard J. Keiser, loving mother of Bruce Keiser (Karen Cronin) and Lisa Keiser, and devoted friend to many others.

Born in Philadelphia, Betty was the youngest of three sisters and graduated from Girls High School going on to Mastbaum Vocational School. There she learned to read technical blueprints earning her a position at the Frankford Arsenal, where she ultimately met and married Williard Keiser. Together they moved to the Logan section of the city where their children Bruce and Lisa were born. It was during that period that Betty befriended several neighbors who were all members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, setting the stage for both lifelong friendships, as well as her future career in the arts.

In1958 Betty found a new home in Bala-Cynwyd for her family. During that time she studied art appreciation at the then nearby Barnes Foundation, an experience she cherished for years to come. It was during that era that Betty worked for Valley Forge Music Fair, YMYWHA Arts Council, Playhouse in the Park, Phila College of the Performing Arts and the American Music Theatre Festival. In the Philadelphia world of the arts, music and theatre, Betty was renowned for her skills in audience development. She helped find performance opportunities for musical students and had an uncanny ability to cultivate an audience for any cultural performance.

In addition to her work Betty loved classical music, opera, gourmet cooking, gardening and world travel. Throughout her almost 101 years she remained devoted to her husband, children, extended family and friends.
