Esther Berman (née Kirthowitz), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Born and forever proud to be from South Philly, Esther lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. Though she later called Margate home, her South Philly spirit never left her.
Esther was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Seymour (“Ziggy”) Berman, and her brother, Jay Kirthowitz. She is survived by her loving son, Glenn Brown, and daughter in law Randi Gural Brown, and their daughters, Sophie and Rachel. She is also lovingly remembered by her stepson, Cliff Berman, and his wife, Margie Gardner, along with grandchildren Jacob Berman (wife Rachel) and great-granddaughter Eliana Berman, and granddaughter Maddie Berman and her step daughter Jan Berman.
Family was always at the heart of Esther’s world. She found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — taking pride in every milestone, every story shared, every meal around the table. Her warmth, loyalty, and fierce love created a bond that will forever be treasured by those she held close.
Esther will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and unwavering desire to help others. Her generosity touched countless lives — from family and friends to anyone lucky enough to cross her path. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel included, appreciated, and loved.
