Evelyn E. Goldstone

Evelyn Goldstone died peacefully on April 2nd, surrounded by her beloved family.

The proud owner of Evelyn’s Handbags of Merion for 50 years, Evelyn loved meeting and talking to everyone who stopped in and she made lasting and cherished friendships along the way.

She loved to travel and toured China, Japan, Russia, Israel, Italy, France just to name a few. She so enjoyed learning about the history, customs and art of all the places she visited.

A voracious reader, her passion was historical fiction novels. Her morning ritual consisted of reading the newspaper front to back and doing cryptograms and other puzzles. Every Sunday was the New York Times crossword which she completed with only a little help from a dictionary - no technology!! Other longtime hobbies were Mah-jongg and Bridge in which she excelled. An avid bowler, she played in a league well into her nineties.

Evelyn was always asked what was the secret to her longevity. She would answer, with what has become known as an “Evelynism”, “I only eat foods with lots of preservatives”. So isn’t it obvious? The secret to her longevity was her ever-present and often irreverent sense of humor.

Evelyn E. (nee Spiro) Goldstone, April 2, 2026 of Wynnewood, PA. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Goldstone; loving mother of Karen (Joe) Rotelli and Michael Goldstone; cherished grandmother of Rebecca “Becky” (Dario) and Andrew and great grandmother of Lucas, Livia and Sully. Services were private. Contributions in Evelyn’s memory may be made to Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (www.pcacares.org) or Jewish Relief Agency (www.jewishrelief.org).

She will be forever in our hearts.💜
