MEISEL FLORENCE "FAY" Passed away peacefully on September 29th at The Quadrangle in Haverford, PA. Fay was born in 1924 in Columbus, OH and was a graduate of The Ohio State University. She had a long career in social services first with the PA Department of Public Assistance and later with Children and Youth Services of Delaware County. Her career with CYS included working with foster parents and court appearances on behalf of children needing protection. She helped pioneer the field of adoption reunions and took great pride in doing that sensitive work with empathy and careful thought. Fay enjoyed travel, family vacations in Maine, and her weekly bridge games with longtime friends. She had a great sense of humor and often joked that she was a talented painter until her failing eyesight made it difficult to see the numbers. She was a voracious reader, and a constant advocate for fairness and honesty. Fay was predeceased by her husband Daniel and survived by her sons Joel (Theresa) and Steven, close relatives Sue Rhode, and the Schiffer family of Middlebury, VT along with many friends and relatives. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at The Quadrangle's Holly House and especially the dedicated people of Abramson Hospice. Due to COVID concerns, services are private, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Fay's name to the Marple Public Library (
marplelibrary.org).
