SCHWARTZ, FLORENCE ROSENSWEIG 91 - of Atlantic City. Predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Max Schwartz. Loving mother of Ira (Cynthia), Steven, David(Josephine) and Susan (Jacob). Grandmother of Rachel, Abigail, Marissa, Michael, Ben, Allison and Lisa. Great-grandmother of Dara and Micah. Sister of Donald Rosensweig and the late Helen Wolfman. Florence began her musical career at the age of five years, and became a world renowned musician. Florence's career spanned 83 years. Her instruments were the violin and Pardesseus de Viole. She studied violin under Ben Stad and Louis Persinger. Florence was awarded a Fellowship at the Julliard Graduate School of Music in New York City and attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She was Concertmaster of the York, Lancaster, and Trenton Symphony Orchestras, Assistant Concertmaster of the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, and played with the Bach Festival Orchestra. She was one of the first women to perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She also performed with the American Society of Ancient Instruments, of which she was the Music Director for 26 years. Florence appeared in nationwide television and radio broadcasts, and concertized throughout the United States, Canada, South and Central America, as well as Europe. She also performed with many internationally famous entertainers throughout her career. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 9:30AM at Joseph Levine and Sons Funeral Home 4737 East Street Road, Trevose, PA 19053.
