Frances Collin

 

Frances Wene, of Wayne, PA passed away Monday, February 27, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia on July 11, 1935 to the late Herman and Pearl Wene. Fran attended Girls High School in Philadelphia and lived for many years in New York City where she worked as a literary agent. She was the owner of Frances Collin Literary Agency, the Trustee of the Estate of Rachel Carson, and represented the Estate of John Williams. Fran enjoyed traveling and had a keen eye for all things literary. She always had a book in her hand, a cat in her lap, and a cup of tea ready for anyone coming in from the cold. She was funny and kind and deeply opinionated, managing to be razor sharp and fabulously blunt at the same time, and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her brother Jay Wene and her nieces Laura Rawdin, Jennifer Schecter, Suzanne Schecter, Wrae Wene and Caryn Wene, and her nephews Ralph Soifer and K. Mason Schecter.

Funeral services will be held at Montefiore Cemetery on Thursday March 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia.
