Garth R. Heald, 1954-2020
It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Garth Raymond Heald, 65, on October 23, 2020, after a long battle with amyloidosis. Born and raised in West Chester, PA, Garth is survived by his wife Valerie (née Rabin); his three daughters, Alix, Dorie, and Arielle; his brothers, Edward and Doug; and innumerable friends and relatives. Garth was predeceased by his father, Earl, and his mother, Diane (née Zimmer).
First and foremost, he was a father and a husband-there was no greater love than the love Garth had for his girls, but he was also a cherished uncle and brother-in-law, a dear friend, a mentor, a sounding board; he was a scholar, a lawyer, a trusted volunteer; devoted to his Judaism and the community, he was a true mensch (as Merriam-Webster defines it: a person of integrity and honor); he was a Philadelphia sports fan, a lacrosse player, and Coach Daddy. He knew how to do it all-to his girls: a true superhero.
Garth embraced life with an outlook many aspire to-one of optimism, gratitude, gentleness, and joy. His wit and his charm could disarm you even on the worst of days. He left his special touch on the lives of everyone who knew him, and his memory will forever be a blessing.
Donations in his memory can be made to JDRF (https://www.jdrf.org/) and Chabad of Chester County (https://www.jewishchestercounty.com/).
