GERTRUDE ROSE, (nee Pivitz), 91, of Hickory, N.C., wife of the late Robert P. Forman of Huntingdon Valley, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Forman was born at the Lying-In Hospital in Chicago, Illinois on April 3, 1924 to Rachael Solomon and Morris Pivitz. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in Seattle, Washington. Graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a B.A. in Psychology, Forman worked as an elementary teacher in Chicago, Cupertino, California, and North Miami Beach, Florida. Her generous, adventurous, fun-loving nature touched thousands. Those who will cherish her memory are: her son Jim Forman of Seattle, Washington; her daughter Sally Forman Pitofsky and fiancé Keith Neal of Hickory, NC.; her two beloved grandchildren Jackson Pitofsky and Marina Pitofsky of Hickory, N.C., and Ben and Joan Forman, Susan Forman, David and Marla Forman, Carol Forman, and Austin Forman of Pittsburgh, PA. A graveside service to celebrate Gertrude Forman's life will be held for the family and close friends at Shalom Memorial Cemetery, Pine and Byberry Rds. (entrance on Pine Road) Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:30 A.M.
