Gilbert Morris Cohen

On Monday, July 24, 2023, Gilbert Morris Cohen passed away peacefully at home at the age of 87. He was a graduate of Dobbins High School Class of 1954 and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Through the GI Bill, he received his undergraduate degree from Temple University in 1960.

We commemorate the myriad of joys Gil found in life from starting at a renowned accounting firm to charting his own course building a successful career as a CPA and financial advisor to relishing the thrill of activities like golf and B’nai B’rith softball. Among his proudest memories was the day he achieved a remarkable hole-in-one at Meadowlands. He also found great joy in reading historical novels, listening to Frank Sinatra, following the stock market and cheering for Philadelphia's sports teams -- win or lose. 

Above all, Gil was a family-oriented man. His heart overflowed with love for his three sons and seven grandchildren. He was happiest when he was around his family and showed up to support them in all their endeavors. You could always find him watching his grandchildren’s soccer, baseball, lacrosse and volleyball games as well as their dance recitals. Gil approached every moment with dedication, curiosity, and heart, and he will be greatly missed. 

Gil is survived by his wife of 62 years Zena (nee Gitlin); children Mitchell Cohen (Maileen), Barry Cohen (Sandy) and Andrew Cohen (Diep); sister Rochelle Burak and his seven loving grandchildren Jordan, Jamie, Jade, Emmie, Sam, Dylan and Leah.

Relatives and friends are invited to services Friday, July 28th, 10:00 am at Joseph Levine & Sons Memorial Chapel, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, PA 19053 and interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will be sitting Shiva immediately following services, on Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday starting at 2:00 pm with Minyan at 7:00 pm at Gil’s home.
