Harriet Rubin Hartman

Harriet Rubin Hartman, aged 96, beloved wife of Mervin J. Hartman, and adored mother of Michael (Randi), Joan (John Rothchild), Miriam (Desmond Beazley), Samuel, and Robert, died peacefully at home in Boynton Beach, Florida on October 16, 2026, after a long illness.

She was born in Philadelphia to Dr. Robert W. Rubin, a South Philadelphia physician, and Pauline Green Rubin, a pharmacist.

She graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls and attended the Philadelphia Musical Academy, where she studied with the celebrated pianists Leo Ornstein and Agi Jambor. She was an exceptional musician who inculcated a deep appreciation for music in her children and grandchildren.

A lifelong member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun in Philadelphia, she was committed to Jewish causes in both Philadelphia and South Florida, and, for 36 years, she lived in Jerusalem each summer.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, her five children, eleven grandchildren (Amy and Lauren Hartman; Julia and Daniel Rothchild; Ayelet and Noa Beazley; Marci, Paulette, and Halle Hartman; and Jacob and Leah Hartman), and three great-grandchildren (Aluma and Emmanuelle Horvitz, and Sage Bohon).

Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. May her memory be for a blessing.
