Harvey Selig Brodovsky was born on December 5th, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He passed away on May 21 at the age of 92.
Harvey is survived by his two sons William and Jeremy from his marriage to Barbara Jane Hand. Additionally he has four grandchildren: James, Samuel, Olivia and Benjamin and two great-grandchildren. He also has a sister Eileen Garber of Livingston, NJ and brother David in Winnipeg.
Harvey graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine with a medical degree in 1955. He then moved to the United States and completed fellowships at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and MD Anderson in Houston, TX. Upon completion of his time at MD Anderson, Harvey returned to Philadelphia and Jefferson Hospital.
At Jefferson Hospital, Harvey helped to start the Medical Oncology division of the hospital in the early 1970s. In addition to Jefferson, Harvey practiced at Our Lady or Lourdes Hospital, Nazareth Hospital and Methodist Hospital.
Harvey continued to grow his practice and the medical oncology program at Jefferson. During this process he treated countless patients and trained numerous young residents. Harvey retired from medical practice in 1996.
Funeral services will be held at George Washington Memorial Park, on Tuesday, May 23rd at 11:00am. There will be a calling for friends and family after the service at the residence of Bill and Janine Brodovsky.
