Iris BenYishay (nee Kent) passed away peacefully at her home on December 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia on December 30, 1952, to Harry and Florence (Loss) Kent. She is survived by her husband, Adi BenYishay; her children Ariel BenYishay (Jessica Sapalio), Matan BenYishay (Jennifer Gubitz), Aran BenYishay (Casie BenYishay), Danielle BenYishay (Elizabeth BenYishay), and Lia BenYishay; grandchildren Christian, Savannah, Luca, Siena, Eleanor, Alex, Florence, Willow, and Ori; and sisters Judy Galioto and Dorothy Kent (Harry Hellerman).
Iris lived a life shaped by family, laughter, and friendships. She moved to Israel in her early 20’s, where she joined her life with Adi, with whom she would spend the next 4+ decades. They were married for 42 years. She and Adi moved to the Philadelphia area in 1989, where they continued filling their home with love and warmth. Iris loved to bake delicious challahs and elaborate birthday cakes, to make artwork and crafts (whether a painting or a puzzle), and to listen to folk music on her record player or at outdoor concerts. She loved meeting new people and was willing to strike up a conversation with anyone. She also volunteered for many years for the American Friends of MaTaN, an organization devoted to women’s engagement with Judaism.
Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services, 11:00 am, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moores Road, Frazer, PA. 19355.
