ROSENSTEIN
IRV
Died at home on September 11, 2018. He was 85. Irv was an uproarious storyteller, a cutting debater, and a fierce player of volleyball and chess. His integrity and generosity were unfailing. Irv dedicated his life to defending and growing the dignity and rights of working people, and he disdained every sort of arrogance. He was the first in his household to attend college, receiving both his under-graduate and doctoral degrees from Temple University, where he later taught and worked in a number of capacities. He was instrumental in organizing the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers and, for many years, led education programs at UNITE/HERE.
Much beloved, he is survived by his wife, Claire; daughters, Carole and Jane; son-in-law, John; and grandsons, Max and Harry, as well as many, many life-long friends. We are thankful that Irv, a true native son, lived to see the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl.
A Memorial will be held at the Germantown Friends School Meetinghouse, on October 21st, from 2:30 to 4 P.M. Meeting will be followed by a reception from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M.
