We are saddened to announce the passing of Irving Lautman z’l at the age of 97. Irving was the husband of Millicent Lautman (z’l), father of Martin (Susan), Meryl (Joseph z’l), and Roberta (Harold); grandfather of Jeremy (Sophie), Philip (Sarah), Michael, Jacob (z’l), Robert (Sarah), Paul (Erica), Andrew (Michelle), and Lauren (Patrick); great grandfather of JJ, Charlotte, Jacob, Jordyn, Madison, Zachary, Lila and Sylvia.
The funeral, observed with military honors, will be held graveside at Beth David Cemetery 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY 11003, at 1:30PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Irving fought as a combat soldier in WWII under General Maurice Rose (The Point of the Spear Battalion) landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, being awarded a Bronze Star for bravery and, toward the end of the war, serving for 7 months as a German prisoner isolated as a Jewish POW.
