Janet B. Kaplan

Janet Barbara Kaplan (née Ziff), 71, of Coatesville, PA, formerly of Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 3, 1953, in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jerrold and Roslyn (née Shapiro) Ziff.

Janet's life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and friends. As the cherished wife of Gary Kaplan for over five decades, she shared a deep bond rooted in love and mutual respect, creating a warm and welcoming home.

As a devoted mother to Andrew Kaplan (Marianne) and Jodi Turkelson (Scott), Janet’s nurturing spirit knew no bounds. Her children were her greatest pride and joy, and even more, she treasured her role as Nana to Lindsay Kaplan, Ella Turkelson, and Jake Turkelson, who brought immense happiness into her life. Every moment spent with them was a cherished gift, and watching them grow filled her heart with love and pride.

Janet was a devoted sister to Lori Ziff, Andrea Ziff, and Jeffrey Ziff (Suzanne) and beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was deeply committed to caring for her younger sister Andrea, who faced significant physical challenges. Janet's endless love, kindness, and compassion were evident in every aspect of her care.

Throughout her life, Janet touched so many people with her infectious spirit. She was always up for an adventure — whether it be having a midnight snack party or going on a spontaneous trip with her friends — Janet embraced life wholeheartedly.

Janet had an uncanny ability to make friends wherever she went, gathering people from all backgrounds and ages who were drawn in by her warm smile and outgoing personality. One of Janet's greatest joys came from bringing people together around food — the more, the merrier. Her home was always open, with an extra seat at the table for anyone. Whether hosting large gatherings at home or going out to dinner with family and friends, she thrived when surrounded by loved ones, always laughing and creating new memories.

Even during times of illness, Janet never missed a family event, as being present for her children and grandchildren always took precedence over everything else.

The impact of Janet's absence will be deeply felt by all those she touched but we take solace knowing that the memories made together will forever be in our hearts.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside service celebrating Janet’s life on Friday, October 25, 1:00 PM at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moores Road, Malvern PA 19355.
