Janet Susan Friedman, devoted daughter of the late Philip and Catherine Friedman, loving sister of Tom Friedman (Judy) and Debby Walters (Gordon), adored aunt of Pamela Walters and Stephen Walters passed January 1st, 2026.
Janet attended St. Mary’s Hall Academy (Doan Academy) in Burlington, N.J., and went on to receive her education degree at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tn. and pursued further studies, attaining her master’s degree in Education. Upon graduation she was offered a special ed. teaching position at Pennsbury School District where she dedicated more than 37 years to her students and colleagues.
Her father’s business, Yardley Pharmacy in Yardley, Pa. was a beloved community landmark for over 40 years. It was there that Janet and her family worked side by side, and where she perfected her soda fountain skills, warmly greeting and taking great pleasure serving the close-knit community she and her family were a large part of. Janet continued her commitment to family working closely with her brother Tom for over 30 years at his nationally recognized pharmacy, Horsham Square Pharmacy in Horsham, Pa.
A lifelong and devoted Phillies fan, Janet attended countless games and even worked the last All-Star Game in Philadelphia, proudly welcoming the players as they arrived. She loved the Jersey shore and treasured her second home in Ocean City where she spent many joyful days with her large “shore family” attending casino concerts, socializing at the pool playing Rummy Q, and faithfully riding her bicycle every Sunday morning to attend the well-loved local flag raising ceremony. Her other passions included travel, reading, the beach, bicycling, attending Bruce Springsteen concerts, and taking the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to have lunches with her sister Debby in Delaware.
Janet is to be laid to rest beside her family at King David Memorial Park in Bensalem, Pa. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to The American Heart Association or The American Association of Cancer Research in Philadelphia (AACRfoundation.org).
