Jay S. Harris

Jay S. Harris peacefully passed away on March 27th, 2025 at age 78. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was a devoted and loving husband and father to Deborah and Eric. He was a graduate of Central High Class of 222, Temple University and Widener School of Law.

Jay was a sharp, quick-witted and funny person. He also was sometimes a touch too serious, and always arrived too early to any event (how does 4 hours in the airport sound to you?). He was a lawyer by trade and was able to successfully start his own law practice with his friend. After retirement, Jay spent some time volunteering to teach reading to kids in West Philly, and got true enjoyment supporting them.

An avid sports fan, Jay was happy to watch all the Philly teams, college football, track and field and almost all Olympic games. He loved the cinema and was a habitual film watcher, book reader and brunch enjoyer. He was fortunate to be able to take trips around the globe with the love of his life, Deborah, and they enjoyed many other activities together.

Being a dad came easily to him and he loved Eric dearly, spending time going to ball games, movies, or just hanging out. He had a strong connection with Eric’s partner Jeanmarie, and they truly were the yin to Eric and Deb’s yang. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life with his dog, Angie, always by his side, and was in good health until his cancer diagnosis. Jay will be missed immensely by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his honor can be made to Philabundance.
