Joan Vivien Maltz (nee Milliner) embraced life and valued each moment surrounded by her family and friends by her side. She is celebrated for her resounding kindness, warmth, generous, embracing hugs and daily good deeds. People who knew her for a lifetime or an instant unanimously agree that she brought beautiful energy to each interaction and made the world a better place. She inspired generosity of spirit and expressions of love in her close and global community.
Devoted daughter to Dr. Jack and Shirley Milliner (z”l) she welcomed them into her home and life and cared for them through their final days. Adoring granddaughter of Dolly Posner (z”l) and proud sister of Dr. Stephen Milliner (z”l), they shared so many special memories at Empire Road and established home as a place full of love, delicious food and inclusive of all. Loving wife to Dr. David Maltz for 56 years. Joan and David had an epic love with a focus on family and togetherness. They embraced global travel adventures and lived a full life in many locations including Johannesburg, South Africa; London, England; Merion, PA and Lakewood Ranch, FL. Joan and David together opened Narberth Dental Associates, a family practice and home away from home where Joan welcomed each person with her signature radiant smile, genuine personal touch and in multiple languages.
She was a gracious sister-in-law to Jonty and Ellen Maltz, Melanie Milliner, Ruth and Alf Bonner and an adored aunt and cousin to the Milliner, Silverman, Amoils, Meyerowitz families. Family came first to Joan and David and through their warmth, every person in their orbit felt like family.
Joan was an extraordinary mother beyond compare to Dr. Leigh-Ann Maltz-Dichter, Dr. Tracy Maltz and Gayle Maltz Meyer; nurturing mother-in-law to Eric and Andy; effervescent Granny to Samantha, Jason, Sidney and Ben. Her favorite moments were spent with the whole family together at home. Joan reveled in blue-tiful skies and colorful fall leaves, peonies and roses outside her window and a warm cup of rooibos tea. She had time for everyone and we wish she had had more time here with us. She will be remembered as the best we could have ever hoped for.
In lieu of flowers, please hug someone, remember a birthday or anniversary, make the trip, accept the party invitation and take every opportunity to tell the people you love how much you love them always and all ways. Contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Interment is private.
