JOAN B., formerly of Melrose Park, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2014 after a long illness at the age of 88. For many years, Joan was the Director of Library Science for the School District of Philadel-phia retiring in 1985. She received her B.A. and Masters Degrees in Ed. from The Uni-versity of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Library Science from Drexel University.
Joan Marilyn Blumberg was born to Rachel and Solomon Blumberg on July 7, 1926. Beloved widow of her husband Stanley of 63 years. Sister of the late Dr. Marvin Blumberg. Devoted mother to her three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sherrie Myers, Dr. Stuart Myers and Dr. Patricia Lowry and Steven and Beth Myers. Adored grandmother to Julie Gutierrez and husband Mark, Jennifer Myers, Sarah Myers, Daniel Myers, Allison Myers and Jessica Spiegel and husband Bradley, and loving great grandmother to Graham Gutierrez and Samuel Spiegel. Funeral Services Graveside, 10 A.M. Sunday, Oct. 26th at Haym Salomon Cemetery, 200 Moores Rd., Frazer, PA. Donations in her name can be made to a charity of your choice. Shiva will be observed at the home of Robert and Sherrie Myers following the funeral.
