Joan M. Rackmil

RACKMIL
JOAN M.
A pioneer in the early days of live television, died on Saturday. She was 91. When WCAU-TV came on the air in 1948, so did Joan. With then husband Gene Crane, she co-hosted the nation's first husband-and-wife morning show, "The Mr. and Mrs. Show". A career in the art business was followed by a move to New York when she married Milton Rackmil, President of Universal Pictures and co-founder of Decca Records.
A woman of strength and style, Joan lived a life worth celebrating. She is survived by her adored and adoring son David Crane and his husband Jeffrey Klarik. Services will be held Wednesday, 12 Noon at Haym Saloman Memorial Park,
Frazer, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to PBS.
