Joan Raffel, of Maris Grove in Glen Mills, born August 4, 1945, passed away March 6, 2024. Beloved wife of Neil for 59 years; mother of Leza Raffel (Mark Rake) and Jarett Raffel (Melissa Raffel); loving grandmother of Ilya Rake, and Tyler and Peyton Raffel; loving sister of Sindy Carpency and Robert Nathans, devoted daughter of Leanore and Norman Nathansloving aunt to nieces and nephews in Maryland and Philadelphia.

Joan grew up in West Philadelphia, before marrying and then moving with her husband and two children first to Lower Merion, then to Springfield, PA.  When computer portrait entertainment first surfaced as a party trend in the early 1980’s, Joan and Neil founded Mine-O-Grams, which gained a stellar reputation for its mitzvah and special event work throughout the Philadelphia Region.

Both an artist and a trend-setter, Joan was often selected to oil paint on purses and clothing at art fairs and festivals. Many of her clients were well-known local celebrities.
