John Andrew Summers

John Summers, age 55, of Doylestown Pa, died at home on May 4, 2026.

Born in Princeton, New Jersey on November 28, 1970, he was the son of Patrick H. Summers and Barrie L. (Kramer) Summers. He graduated high school in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Rutgers University, earned a Masters Degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and was a Doctoral candidate at Purdue University when he passed. He was a lecturer in computer science at Bucks County Community College for the past 15 years.

John was a lifelong learner, and pursued many varied interests, especially at the intersection of computing and linguistics. He founded the student chapter for the Association for Computing Machinery at Bucks County Community College to help students apply the latest research in their careers. He worked with colleagues in the Environmental Science department at Bucks to design and deploy equipment for collecting and analyzing weather data at Tyler State Park. He always had his nose in a book, and was eager to share what he was learning about.

John also had an exceptionally creative mind. Starting in his high school years, and continuing throughout his life, he was an avid guitarist and singer songwriter. He wrote poetry. He was a painter. He didn’t mind if the audience was small, and he put all of his being into expressing his own unique vision and ideas.

John will be greatly missed by his friends and especially by the members of the Summers family both here and in England. He is survived by his father Patrick, his two brothers Matthew and Edward, his sisters in law Jenn Summers and Kesa Summers, and his nieces and nephews Andrew, Jack, Charlie, Graham and Maeve.

There will be a memorial service at Trinity Church 6587 Upper York Rd, Solebury PA to celebrate John’s life at 11 AM on Saturday, May 30, following which he will be laid to rest in the Trinity Church Cemetery alongside his dear mother, Barrie, who died in 2023.
