Ehrenberg
Julian, January 3, 1924- July 10, 2024, of Audubon, PA. Son of the late Hymen and Anna (Elowitz) Ehrenberg. Julian was raised with many close aunts and uncles, and their children, cousins, who, continue to celebrate life events together.
Loving husband of the late Rita Goldenberg Ehrenberg (Mommom); beloved father of Barbara (Mickey) Black, Nancy (Ron) Miller. Devoted grandfather of Anna (Eric) Morin, Lee Forest Black of blessed memory and (Molly) Black, Kate and (John), Hutelmyer. Adored great grandfather of Ruby Black Morin, Hattie Black Morin and Jade Arabella Hutelmyer. Cherished brother of Richard (MarySue) Ehrenberg, and their children, Dr. Hugh (Dr. Celeste Durnwald) Ehrenberg and Debra Ehrenberg. Great nieces, Sophia and Charlotte Ehrenberg. Loving brother in-law of the late Herbert and Edith (Adler) Goldenberg, their children, Bruce and (Ceri) Goldenberg, and their children, Sarah and David Goldenberg. Niece, Judge Wendy Rothstein, her daughter, Rachel and (Michael) McCarthy.
"Pop Pop" was truly loved by his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a big part of their lives, showering them with his affection, charm and joy at every opportunity.
Julian was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. He attended Boston Latin School, and then was drafted into the army, serving during WWII. Julian was a medic deployed to France; then, leaving France, arriving in Dachau, one day after the liberation from Nazi, Germany. Julian graduated from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he met and married Rita Goldenberg, on July 3rd, 1949, at Curtis Arboretum. He worked closely with his family at "Goldenberg’s Furniture Store" on Main street in Norristown, PA.
Julian and Rita were married for 74 1/2 years and his family and dear friends, celebrated their anniversary and Julian's 100th at a lively and intimate party just this past January. It was a love fest!
Julian had many interests that he shared with his family, photography, sailing, scuba diving, ice skating and more. He served as a past president of Tiferet Bet Israel Congregation, chairing numerous fundraising events for the synagogue and nominating committees. Julian’s legacy is one of many close friendships and his willingness to help others whenever the need arose. He was an integral part of the vibrant and tight knit Norristown Jewish community.
Rita and Julian were both exemplary role models for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lives well lived, and loved by so many.
Contributions in Julian’s memory are appreciated, and can be designated to: Tiferet Bet Israel, Blue Bell, PA, where they were members for 75 years. A Memorial Service at TBI will be held on October 6th.
