Julian Rackow, Esq. of Blue Bell, PA passed on December 19, 2025.
Julian was the beloved husband of Paulette (nee Schorr); loving father of Jeffrey Rackow (Dana Shoenberg) and Andrea Rackow (Dr. Richard Catanzaro); adoring grandfather of Ian Rackow, Bruno Catanzaro, and Raffa Catanzaro.
Julian Paul Rackow was born December 16, 1941, to Larry and Blanche Rackow. He was older brother to David and Andrew, both of whom predeceased him.
He attended Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, PA, where he was a member of the wrestling team and graduated in 1959. As a student in Cornell University’s Class of 1963, he majored in Government and enjoyed his membership in Beta Sigma Rho fraternity.
He and Paulette married in the summer of 1963 as he set off for Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1966. Their son Jeff was born that year, and daughter Andrea was born in 1972.
Julian practiced commercial real estate law for more than four decades with the law firm Blank Rome. In recognition of his respected role in the industry, Julian was elected Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and a member of the National Economic Committee of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He was also committed to supporting the community and served as President and later Chairman of the Board of the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation, advising Philadelphia's business community and its Business Improvement District; Board member of Avenue of the Arts, Inc., a non-profit organization promoting cultural and economic growth on South Broad Street in Philadelphia; and Board member of the Parkway Council Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to promote the development of the Ben Franklin Parkway and surrounding area in center city Philadelphia.
In his spare time he played the piano and tennis, wrote poetry, enjoyed opera and dancing with Paulette, and loved to travel. He was especially devoted to his family; he loved his role as a silly and proud Pop-pop, and was an adored husband, father, and grandfather.
Relatives and friends are invited to memorial services on Tuesday December 23, 2025, 11:00 AM at Joseph Levine & Sons, 1002 W. Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA. Interment is private.
