Kenneth Blumberg

Kenneth Blumberg, of Lafayette Hill, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024.  Ken will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was born on June 28, 1932, to Hyman and Pauline Blumberg.  He was the first born.  His sister Joyce z”l was two years younger.

After high school, Ken joined the army and served in the Korean War.  Upon return from active duty, he continued his career by joining his father in the family hardware business.  Wife Nora and daughter Stefanie deepened the family roots in the business as they both took an active role.

When Ken married Nora in 1966, he soon realized that there was a life outside of hardware.  Their son Howard was born in 1968.  Daughter Stefanie followed in 1970.  As a family, they traveled frequently.

Ken loved his time with the family in Atlantic City.  Playing horseshoes on the beach or lounging at the pool.  He couldn’t wait for the warm weather.  Since it was only warm for so many months in the year up north, Ken and Nora bought a few weeks of timeshare in Aruba.

In 1997, Ken sold the hardware business and accompanying property.  As the magnet on their refrigerator states: “I have a full-time job; a retired husband.” Nora took that very seriously.  They traveled and golfed often.  In the fall and summer, Ken would regularly take trips with Howard to countless baseball and football games to see the Phillies and Eagles play in away cities.

In January of 2000, Ken took on a title that he embraced immediately; Pop Pop.  Ken LOVED his time with granddaughters Carly and Hope.

To the very end, Ken was active.  He played golf as recently as this past fall.  They would regularly take walks in the mall and undoubtedly stop for ice cream.

Ken is survived by his wife Nora (Pravitz) of 57 years, son Howard, daughter Stefanie (David Barrist), and granddaughters Carly Barrist and Hope Barrist.
