Lawrence "Larry" Allen, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
Born in Philadelphia to Maurice “Moe” and Jeanette “Jean” Allen (née Abramson), Larry was a proud graduate of Central High School (Class 186) and earned his degree from Penn State University in 1950. He served honorably in the U.S. Army at Fort Rucker during the Korean conflict.
On March 28, 1953, Larry married the love of his life, Myrna (née Newman). Their devoted partnership lasted 69 years until Myrna’s passing in May 2022.
Larry is survived by his children Barry and Karen Allen, Andrea and David Lehman, and Suzan and George Koren; grandchildren Rachel Allen and Vincent Rogers, Erin Allen and Charlie Alderman, Alexander and Samantha Lehman, and Joshua Lehman; and great-grandchildren Joanne Alderman, Harry Alderman, and Kyrie Micah Allen-Rogers. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Heather Allen, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.
Larry worked with several local organizations throughout his career, retiring after 35 years with the Technical Advisory Service for Attorneys (TASA). Yet perhaps he is best remembered for his tireless dedication to community and nonprofit service. He was deeply involved with the Jewish War Veterans, Temple Sinai, and the National Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs, among others—always committed to doing good through action.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Temple Sinai, 1401 N. Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA. Synagogue services will be streamed at www.tsinai.com/streaming. Interment will follow at King David Memorial Park, with a meal of condolence afterward at The 501 at Mattison in Ambler, PA.
Larry lived by a strong sense of integrity, purpose, and community. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to Temple Sinai (www.tsinai.com) or the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs (fjmc.org)
