Leonard Mendel

Leonard M. Mendel, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on May 21, 2023 peacefully in hospice care
at age 94. Formerly of Yorktown Heights, NY and Hot Springs, AR. He was born in NYC in 1928
to Louis and Lillian (née Goldberg) Mendel. A graduate of Samuel Gompers High School in the
Bronx, he was a WW II Coast Guard veteran and retired from the NYPD Emergency Squad. He
had a subsequent career as a master electrician and technician for traffic signal maintenance
for the City of Hot Springs. He was an avid ham radio operator delighting in speaking with
fellow hams around the world. Twice widowed, he is survived by a son Kenneth and 2
daughters, Kathy (Mark) and Jo-Ann, 4 grandaughters Jillian (Robert), Jennifer (Ethan), Judy
(Robert), Paula (Robert) and 6 great-grandchildren Tessa, Wesley, Alexander, Dean, Brooks and
